Practical, inspirational resources to help you grow
Inspiration tells us, “Agree with the people on every point where you can consistently do so. Let them see that you love their souls, and want to be in harmony with them so far as possible…” (Evangelism, p. 140). This download contains a inspiring collection of thoughts to guide you as you reach out to others. You will be blessed.
The Bible says, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me” (Gal. 2:20). But what does it mean to be crucified with Christ, to die to self, in practical day-to-day life? The following “Healthy Heart Check” is sure to give you some new inspiration as you seek a deeper walk with Christ.
Some may think it’s selfish to pray for our own heart needs, but it’s essential. The person with the greatest power to help or hinder God’s work in our lives is our self. Even Jesus prayed for Himself. So this "Day of Prayer and Fasting" focus is a bit different, but is sure to be a huge blessing for all. (Although these materials were written for 3rd Quarter 2017, they can be re-used again and again!)
Wanting to start a prayer ministry in your church, but not sure where to start? The following ideas, from Joseph Kidder’s book “The Big Four,” will help you get the ball rolling. As Inspiration tells us, "Prayer and faith will do what no power on earth can accomplish" (Ministry of Healing, p. 509). The best place to start any ministry is on our knees!
In the Bible, fasting is not an option. It’s a given. Matthew 6:17 doesn’t say, “If you fast,” but rather, “When you fast.” If you are wondering how to begin fasting, the following document will give some practical inspiration and suggestions as well as tips for doing the “Daniel’s Fast.” As Derek Morris says, “We fast from the world so that we can feast on Jesus.” May God will bless your sincere efforts to clear distractions away so you can have a closer deeper walk with Him.
If our heart has been touched by the Saviour, we won’t be able to keep our joy to ourselves. Just as the disciples went about sharing what they’d seen and heard, we too will long to share. “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). The following booklet, created by the Sabbath School and Personal Ministries department, will provide some tools to help motivate members to take the Great Commission seriously. Let's be part of Total Member Involvement.
The desire for good health is a personal need of everyone. And ministering to the health needs of others will often be an entering wedge for the gospel, as prejudice is broken down. The following booklet, created by the Sabbath School and Personal Ministries department, gives some practical keys to Health Evangelism and how to get started in your local church!
In the book Ministry of Healing we are told, “Christ’s method alone will give true success in reaching the people. The Saviour mingled with men as one who desired their good. He showed His sympathy for them, ministered to their needs, and won their confidence. Then He bade them, 'Follow Me' ” (p.143). Watch the following video to see how Total Member Involvement can help take Health Evangelism to a whole new level if God’s people work together.
Happy Sabbath Praise
Remember, Jesus has been wounded that by His stripes we might be healed! This week our “Happy Sabbath Praise” Scripture song is titled “Is Anyone Among You Suffering” and is based on James 5:13-16. Sing along and be blessed as we serve the master physician and healer of broken hearts and bodies. This song comes from the album Sing to the Lord by Derek and Bodil Morris.
This booklet, created by the Sabbath School and Personal Ministries Department of the General Conference, gives great tips of how to work effectively through each of the avenues of influence within your church including: Personal Ministries, Children’s Ministries, Youth Ministries, Sabbath School Ministries, Family Ministries, Health Ministries, Publishing Ministries, Women’s Ministries, Men’s Ministries, and more. Up until now you may have considered yourself a fairly humble person. However, this short “Healthy Heart Challenge” is sure to challenge you in new ways, as you seek to go deeper in your walk with Christ. Remember, true revival can’t begin until we recognize how desperately we need Christ to change our hearts. Then as we fall broken at the foot of the Cross, surrendering our pride and self-sufficiency to Him, it is His joy to encircle us in the arms of His love, and make us new creatures that will display His glory!
Personal Witnessing is a very broad and interesting subject. Many books have been written on it. In this pamphlet we have drawn from a variety of people who have not only written about how to do it, but who have had much practice and have experienced success, by God’s grace. This booklet was created by the Sabbath School and Personal Ministries department at the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
