My Angel Drove my Car
By Anthony R. Castelbuono
In June 2019, I cried out to God, “Lord! How can I use my talents for you? You’ve done so much for me. What can I do for you? My heart breaks for the people that are not ready to see Jesus come. What would you like me to do? Please show me and direct my path!” I continued this prayer for weeks, crying out to God for direction on using my talents for Him. I kept praying and praying until He answered.
In mid-July 2019, the Lord put a desire on my heart to start a magazine focused on helping others get ready for Jesus’ soon return. I wasn’t sure, so I kept praying for direction. A few days after the Lord gave me the idea to start a magazine, He miraculously saved me from a catastrophe—God sent an angel to drive my car.
I am diabetic and one early morning in late July, my blood sugar readings were steadily climbing (from 70 to 75 and higher). Before leaving for work that morning, I gave myself some insulin. Since my blood sugar levels were higher, I needed to wait 20 to 30 minutes before eating breakfast. I grabbed my laptop and some breakfast and headed out the door.
After driving for eight minutes, I felt like my sugar was dropping, so glanced at my continuous glucose meter. My sugar had quickly stopped increasing and was now coming down. It was strange that my sugar levels had started coming down so rapidly. Thankfully, my sugar level was not low and I confidently started eating my breakfast as I drove.
A few minutes later, I passed through downtown Stillwater, New York. Suddenly, I blacked out and I don’t remember anything that happened next. All I know is that my angel must have been right there next to me, driving my car, while I was unaware of my surroundings. My angel drove me safely through two stoplights, properly through two roundabouts, and kept my car safely in my lane on a very curvy road that I had never been on before!
Twenty minutes after I blacked out, I regained consciousness and found that I was driving on a four-lane road. I quickly pulled over, in complete shock about what had just happened. My heart raced as I wondered, “Where am I? How did I get here? Where am I in relation to my work location?” I looked at my phone GPS and was astonished at where my car had been.
Thankfulness and deep gratitude for God filled my heart. I remembered how God had saved my life nearly twenty years before when my blood sugar had dropped dangerously low for hours. I realized again that God must have something He wants me to do for Him. I was so thankful for His love, protection and miraculous power! I also thought about what He had shared with me a few days earlier and pondered, “Does God really want me to start a magazine? Why me? Why now?” I finished my drive to work in utter amazement and praise to God for saving my life again. I should have crashed, but instead, my angel drove my car!
A few weeks later, after persistently seeking the Lord for direction on what He wanted me to do and wrestling with His idea of starting a magazine, I decided to move forward in faith. Five months later, the Lord built a team of five to six people. We needed more writers, editors and leaders, however. I fasted and prayed for God to move and He did. The Lord assembled thirty team members from around the world. Three months later, we launched Time to Get Ready Ministries (www.timetogetready.org).
Dear friends, Jesus Christ wants to save people from this sin-sickened world. We must let go and let Him have all of us. Not most of us, but 100% of ourselves, must be surrendered to Jesus. He is ready and willing to save us and help us get ready, so we can help others inherit eternal life.
Jesus is in the miracle business. More than anything, He wants to remove our stony hearts and give us a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26-27). Jesus wants to reflect His character in us. He wants us to focus on the Who (Him), and when we do this, He removes the what (e.g., addictions, other sins) from our lives.
Be persistent with God. He is just as powerful today as in Bible times. His angels stand ready to protect and save us (Psalm 91:11).
Anthony is an HR professional and a leader in his local church in Upstate New York. In 2017, he became convicted to start spending 60 minutes daily with Jesus following seven key relationship principles. In 2019, the Lord put a burden on his heart to start a magazine that prepared people to get ready for the soon return of Jesus — this burden led to the creation of www.timetogetready.org
