Isaiah 12
Reading Time: Less than one minute Listen
And in that day thou shalt say, O Lord, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me.
2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.
3 Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.
4 And in that day shall ye say, Praise the Lord, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.
5 Sing unto the Lord; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.
6 Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.

Isaiah 12:1-6
The Lord Is My Strength and My Song
1You will say in that day:
“I will give thanks to you, O Lord,
for though you were angry with me,
your anger turned away,
that you might comfort me.
2“Behold, God is my salvation;
I will trust, and will not be afraid;
for the Lord God is my strength and my song,
and he has become my salvation.”
3With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. 4And you will say in that day:
“Give thanks to the Lord,
call upon his name,
make known his deeds among the peoples,
proclaim that his name is exalted.
5“Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously;
let this be made known in all the earth.
6Shout, and sing for joy, O inhabitant of Zion,
for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.”

Songs of Praise
1In that day you will say:
“I will praise you, Lord.
Although you were angry with me,
your anger has turned away
and you have comforted me.
2Surely God is my salvation;
I will trust and not be afraid.
The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense;
he has become my salvation.”
3With joy you will draw water
from the wells of salvation.
4In that day you will say:
“Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;
make known among the nations what he has done,
and proclaim that his name is exalted.
5Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things;
let this be known to all the world.
6Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion,
for great is the Holy One of Israel among you.”

Commentary
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 NKJV
There is no room for taking credit for the deliverance that God gives. Recognizing that God is our only salvation (12:2-6) leads to joy and praise. Recently my daughter had surgery to remove a G-tube that she had since she was a few weeks old. We had been told that she would need it for many years, but both doctors and therapists were surprised to see her not needing the G-tube after a year and six months. Going through such a trial and seeing my daughter eating without needing any devices brings joy to my family and words of praise to God. Just imagine how much joy it will bring when we finally experience the ultimate deliverance! We will be able to sing the “Song of Moses” (Revelation 15:3). Let’s acknowledge His presence and His doing in our lives, give Him the credit and sing praises to Him.
“God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid…” Isaiah 6:2
